Sunday Kayak Races

Hola Amigos,

This coming Sunday we will have our first Kayak Race Event.  All marina residents and club members are welcome to join. The plan is to have teams of 2, racing relays in multiple heats, competing until we get down to the top three contestants.

We have 4 identical kayaks to race around a short course inside the east marina with at least one mark. One sailing race rule will apply: touch the mark and you have to circle it again. No other restrictions apply.

Each team member will run some number of laps, then turn over the boat to his or her team member to finish the race. Winners will compete against each other until we determine the top three.

The tides are dead low at 12:15PM.  Please meet to race at 12:30 PM. This will give us time to complete the event and still have time for an afternoon sail. Bring a change of clothes.

There will be a general PLYC club meeting prior to the races starting at 11:30 AM on the dock. We hope to see you all on Sunday.

To help us plan, please register your team on the “Events Registration” page of our website: https://pointlookoutyc.com/event-registration/ , (register once per two-person team, name your team and use NA for required fields that do not apply).

A $5 per person donation to the TLC would be appreciated.

See you Sunday.

Pink Race Results

Congratulations to all our winners of the Pink Race.
Based on the PHRF’s there are two divisions, Division One, 150 and above and Division Two, below 150, a 1-2 finish for Division two and 1,2,3 for Division One.

Most importantly, congratulations to all the sailors, some of whom stepped outside their comfort zone to execute a very competitive race. It was very pleasing to see everyone keep the spirit and dress for the occasion. I also want to recognize all the decorators for the time and effort put into dressing up the boats.

Thank you all for making the event successful.

Stay healthy and safe,

Rob

Pink Race

Dear members,

The Pink Race is turning out to be a popular competition. This is going to be one hell of a regatta.  So far we have four boats, Haleakala2, LeGatto, Windancer and Vaquita in the lineup with a total of 17 crewmembers (including male servants). Any woman who is not yet assigned to a boat is welcome to register. There is still plenty of room to join the fun.

Keep in mind the rules:

·      Each boat should be able to maintain safe distances onboard among crew members

·      The women will captain and crew the boat during the competition

·      Everyone onboard will wear pink

·      Male riders serve food and drinks

·      Standard PHRF handicaps will apply and be calculated during the pink party that follows

Crew/ boat assignments will follow very shortly.

Keep in mind there will be a Kayak race event the following week. Everyone in the marina is invited, so pass the word.

Ahoy Members,

We are trying a new starting format, suggested by Jeramie. Each handicap has been pre-calculated based on the length of the race course and assigned a specific start time.
The start times for each individual boat are listed on the notice of race. The order of finish will determine the winners. No further timing will be needed. Click on the NOR below to get you assigned start time.

Some the times are only a few seconds a part, so it is important that you heed right of way protocol.

If everyone is on their game, we will all be meeting at the finish line within seconds of each other, which could be a very spirited finish.

I look forward to seeing a lot of boats. Please take time to register at the link below, and please give what you can to the TLC fund drive. We will be happy to accept commercial donations for which we can put a logo and link to the donor’s website on our website.

See you Sunday, early to beat the tide!
